LinguaMock.ai is an AI-powered IELTS practice platform. It runs complete, timed IELTS Academic mock tests and scores every section, Speaking and Writing included. You can mark Listening and Reading yourself with an answer key. You cannot do that with Speaking and Writing, and they are where most candidates fall half a band short of the 7 they need. That is where LinguaMock.ai is strongest.

IELTS Speaking

IELTS Speaking practice with an examiner who has no script

  • 11–14 minutes
  • Parts 1, 2 and 3
  • Band 0–9

On the exam. Part 1 is questions about you and familiar topics. Part 2 is a cue card, with one minute to prepare and up to two minutes to speak, followed by questions. Part 3 is a discussion of the ideas behind the Part 2 topic, and it is where higher bands are won or lost. The examiner listens the whole time, and the next question depends on what you just said.

Most online speaking practice is a recorded question and a countdown. You answer, it records, and nothing you say changes what comes next. You can do that for months and still freeze when a real examiner asks “Why do you think that is?”

On LinguaMock.ai, the examiner talks back. The cue card is set, as it is on the day. The follow-ups are not: no script, no stock questions, no two conversations alike. It is the closest you can get to sitting opposite an IELTS examiner without paying for a test.

  • It follows what you actually said Describe a teacher who inspired you and it asks whether teaching is valued enough today. Claim that technology isolates people and it asks whether you would give up your phone. Every follow-up comes from your own answer.
  • Part 2 the way the exam runs it A cue card, one minute to prepare, up to two minutes to speak. Then come follow-up questions about the talk you just gave.
  • Part 3 is where 6.5 becomes 7 The examiner picks up your reasoning, asks you to justify the claim you just made, and keeps pushing into the abstract. This is what Fluency and Coherence really measure, and it is the one part of IELTS nobody can memorise. You can rehearse a cue card. You cannot rehearse a conversation that does not exist yet.
  • It feels like the real thing You hear each question spoken aloud and see it on screen, in three timed parts. When test day comes, it will not be your first time.
  • Whenever you are ready On your phone or your laptop, at midnight or in a lunch break. No booking, no app, no tutor's diary to fit around.

What you get back: a Speaking band on the official 0–9 scale with clear feedback on what to fix, in about a minute.

IELTS Academic Writing

IELTS Writing checker built for the jump from 6.5 to 7

  • 60 minutes
  • Task 1 + Task 2
  • 4 criteria, each banded

On the exam. Task 1 gives you a chart, table, map or process diagram and twenty suggested minutes to describe it in at least 150 words. You report and compare; you do not speculate. Task 2 is an essay of at least 250 words, and it carries twice the weight of Task 1.

Seven is the number that matters. A large share of postgraduate programmes require it, and many medical and nursing regulators set their bar there or higher. It is also where a great many candidates stall: three sections at 7 and Writing stuck at 6.5.

Grammar checkers cannot close that half band, because spelling is rarely what holds an essay at 6.5. More often it is a position that never fully develops, paragraphs that do not extend their main idea, or cohesion that leans on “Moreover” and “Furthermore”. LinguaMock.ai's Writing feedback is built around exactly that line.

  • All four criteria, scored separately Task Achievement (Task Response in Task 2), Coherence and Cohesion, Lexical Resource, and Grammatical Range and Accuracy, each with its own band and the reasoning shown. If cohesion is holding you at 6.5 and vocabulary is not, you need to know that before you study tomorrow.
  • Feedback built to get you to 7 You see which criterion is costing you and what it has to look like at Band 7. A page of corrected commas will not get you there. Knowing that your paragraphs never develop their main idea will.
  • Task 1 marked against the chart you were given Your answer is checked against the same graph, table, map or diagram you described. That shows up a misread figure, a missed main trend, or a missing overview, and a 7 requires one. A checker that only reads your text cannot see any of these.
  • Task 2 marked for the question actually asked Most marks lost in Task 2 are lost on Task Response. Candidates argue both sides when the prompt asked for their opinion, or answer a slightly easier question than the one set. No amount of good grammar rescues an essay that answers the wrong question.
  • Results in about a minute Write, see your bands, fix the weak criterion, and write again the same evening. That loop is how a band moves.

IELTS Listening

IELTS Listening practice tests, full length and heard once

  • 30 minutes
  • 4 parts
  • 40 questions

On the exam. Four recordings of rising difficulty: an everyday conversation, a monologue, a discussion between several speakers in an academic setting, and an academic lecture. Each is heard once. Listening is identical on Academic and General Training.

  • Every question type you will meet on the day Forms, notes and tables to complete, maps and plans to label, flow charts, multiple choice and matching, in full 40-question tests rather than isolated drills.
  • Heard once, on the real clock Each recording plays once, as it does on the day. If you practise with a pause button, you are practising a different test.
  • 50 tests, never the same recording twice Every test has its own conversations, talks and lectures, so a high score means you can listen, not that you remember the script.
  • Every answer explained, banded instantly Each question explains why the answer is right and why the tempting alternative is wrong, and your band appears the moment you finish.

IELTS Academic Reading

IELTS Academic Reading practice: 2,000 questions on the real clock

  • 60 minutes
  • 3 passages
  • 40 questions

On the exam. Three long passages from journals, books and magazines, forty questions, sixty minutes, and no extra transfer time. That is ninety seconds a question, including the reading. Most candidates can answer the questions. Far fewer can answer them fast enough.

  • 2,000 questions across 50 full tests The question types the Academic paper uses, from True/False/Not Given to matching headings and diagram labelling, in full-length tests rather than isolated drills.
  • True/False/Not Given, explained properly TFNG costs more marks than any other type, usually because candidates treat “Not Given” as a judgement call. Every answer explains what the passage states, what it does not, and why the tempting option is wrong.
  • The real timer, all three passages Sixty minutes on the clock. Untimed practice tells you how well you read. Timed practice tells you your band.
  • The Academic band table Your score converts on the published Academic table. Thirty correct is a 7.0 here and a 6.0 on General Training, and a score on the wrong table hands you a band you will not get on the day.

Why candidates choose LinguaMock.ai

A missed band costs you a retake fee, weeks of waiting, and sometimes a deadline. Candidates choose LinguaMock.ai so they can find the gap before the exam does.

Practise the two sections that decide your bandSpeaking and Writing are where most candidates miss 7, and they are the two you cannot practise or mark on your own. LinguaMock.ai gives you both, as often as you need them.
Be questioned before it countsRehearsed answers fall apart the moment an examiner asks why. Face that pressure at home first, as many times as it takes, and the real Speaking test feels familiar instead of frightening.
Know exactly what is holding you backA band on its own tells you nothing. You find out which criterion is costing you and what a 7 looks like, so every hour of study goes where it actually moves your score.
A score you can plan aroundReal timing, the official band tables and the official rounding. A practice score that flatters you is worse than none, because you book the exam believing it.
Feedback in a minute, not a weekPractise, see what went wrong, fix it, and try again the same evening. Fast feedback is what turns practice into progress.
Enough material for monthsFifty full tests, every one different, is a weekly mock for a year. Your progress is real because you never see the same paper twice.
Learn from every mistakeEvery answer is explained, not just marked. You stop repeating the same mistakes, and that is how scores climb.
Practise on your scheduleOn your phone or laptop, early morning or after midnight. No sessions to book and nothing to install.

LinguaMock.ai for IELTS coaching centres

Running full mock exams for a batch is hard work. Someone has to mark every Writing script, and every student needs a Speaking slot with a teacher. LinguaMock.ai takes both off your teachers' plates, so your centre can run more mocks, give faster feedback, and spend class time on teaching.

  • Full mocks for a whole batch, without the marking Writing and Speaking come back scored in about a minute. Your teachers stop spending evenings on scripts and start spending them on the students who need help.
  • A Speaking examiner for every student Every student can sit a full Speaking test from home, whenever they like. You see the result and decide where to focus class time.
  • See who is ready before they book Every student's results sit in one place, section by section. You spot the weak section early and stop students from booking an exam they are not ready for.
  • You stay in control Create student accounts, decide which test each student sits and when, and allocate credits so usage stays where you want it.
  • Seats that move with your batches Enterprise seats rotate. When one batch finishes, its seats pass to the next, so the same seats serve batch after batch.
  • A full course of material, IELTS and TEF together Fifty full tests per exam is enough for a weekly mock across a long course without repeats. IELTS Academic, IELTS General Training, TEF and TEF Canada are all on the one platform.

What IELTS Academic is

IELTS Academic is the version required for university admission in the UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and increasingly the United States. Professional registration bodies in medicine, nursing, engineering and accountancy also require it. It is run jointly by the British Council, IDP Education and Cambridge University Press & Assessment.

If you are applying for Canadian immigration, work, or training below degree level, you probably need IELTS General Training instead. Listening and Speaking are identical across both. Reading and Writing differ.

IELTS Academic band scores

Each section is scored 0–9, and the overall band is the average of the four, rounded to the nearest half band. Raw scores in Listening and Reading convert on published tables:

BandListening (/40)Academic Reading (/40)
9.039–4039–40
8.537–3837–38
8.035–3635–36
7.532–3433–34
7.030–3130–32
6.526–2927–29
6.023–2523–26
5.518–2219–22
5.016–1715–18

Conversions vary slightly between test versions, so treat these as the standard reference rather than a guarantee for one specific paper.

Rounding, and why 6.625 is a 6.5

Overall bands land on halves. An average of 6.25 rounds up to 6.5 and 6.75 rounds up to 7.0, but 6.625 rounds down to 6.5, because it is nearer 6.5 than 7.0. If an institution needs 7.0 overall with no section below 6.5, a single 6.0 can sink an otherwise strong profile. That is why evenness usually beats brilliance, and why a Writing 6.5 is so often the band that decides the result.

How to prepare

  • Take a full timed test early. Not at the end. Knowing your real starting band changes what you should study.
  • Find the criterion holding your Writing down. Bands rise faster from fixing Task Response and cohesion than from reaching for harder vocabulary.
  • Always write the Task 1 overview. Without a clear summary of the main trends, Task Achievement is capped, however accurate your figures.
  • Prepare for Part 3, not just Part 2. Rehearsed cue-card answers do not survive an examiner who asks why.
  • Practise Reading at pace. Ninety seconds a question with no transfer time.
  • Train the Listening lecture on its own. Part 4 is one speaker with nothing to anchor you, so practise following a talk from start to finish.
  • Lift your weakest section. If you need 7.0 with nothing below 6.5, your floor matters more than your ceiling.

Common questions

What is LinguaMock.ai?

LinguaMock.ai is an AI-powered practice platform for IELTS Academic, IELTS General Training, TEF and TEF Canada. It runs full, timed mock tests and scores every section. Speaking is run by an examiner that asks follow-up questions based on your answers, and Writing is scored on the official criteria.

Is there an AI IELTS Speaking test that asks follow-up questions?

Yes. The LinguaMock.ai Speaking examiner asks each follow-up based on what you just said, so no two conversations are the same. You hear each question and see it on screen.

How accurate are the band scores?

Listening and Reading are marked against the answer key and converted on the published band tables. Writing and Speaking are LinguaMock.ai's AI-assisted estimates, built on the four official criteria and designed to land close to a real examiner's band. These are not official IELTS results and will not appear on any record held by the British Council, IDP or Cambridge.

Can it help me get from 6.5 to 7 in Writing?

That is what it is built for. Each of the four criteria gets its own band and reasoning, so you see which one is holding you at 6.5, and the feedback shows what that criterion needs to look like at 7. Moving the band still takes practice. The feedback tells you where to put it.

Does the Writing checker see my Task 1 chart?

Yes. Task 1 is assessed against the same chart, table, map or diagram you were given, so your figures and trends are checked against the source, not just your description of it.

Academic or General Training: which do I need?

Academic for university study and most professional registration. General Training for Canadian immigration, work visas and training below degree level. The organisation you are applying to specifies which. If it does not say, ask before you book.

Can I practise just one section, like Speaking?

Yes. Each section is independent and scored on its own, so Speaking fits into an evening and the rest can wait for the weekend.

How long does a full test take?

About two and a half hours for Listening, Reading and Writing together, plus 11–14 minutes for Speaking, the same as the real exam. You do not have to sit them together. Progress is saved per section.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. LinguaMock.ai runs in the browser on iPhone, Android, tablets and laptops, with nothing to install. Speaking needs a working microphone, and a quiet room helps more than an expensive headset.

Is LinguaMock.ai free?

There is a free 7-day trial that includes Practice Test 1 of IELTS Academic: all four sections, including a full Speaking test with the AI examiner. No card is required.

Can coaching centres use LinguaMock.ai?

Yes. With an Enterprise account a centre can create student accounts, assign tests, allocate credits and see every student's results in one place. Seats rotate between batches.
